Spring Has Sprung!

Happy Spring!  The weather seems to have finally turned the corner here from that icky cold to a comfortable warmth.  We're loving that we can get outside in t-shirts and jeans (and maybe a light sweatshirt or other layer) and not be chilly.  We've gone for walks to the river and the area playgrounds, and spent some good time out in our backyard with trucks and dirt.

We've also been keeping busy in other areas.  We celebrated the first birthday of our beautiful niece, Emily:

Jacob happily sang "Happy Birthday," ate some cake and ice cream, and was more than willing to "help" open presents.

We've transitioned Jacob over from pull-ups to big-kid underwear during the day.  He's had a few accidents along the way, but he's tried hard to let us know when he has to go to the bathroom -- with the exception of the last few days.  He's been holding it in -- probably because he doesn't want to leave whatever activity he's doing -- so if you have any tips on how to break him of that, please pass them on.  We've told him how proud we are of him and how happy we are that he's trying so hard.  It's another milestone that's passing for him.  A little bittersweet for us.

Easter was a nice, quiet holiday this year.  We spent time together as a family -- just us.  We'll probably visit with my family this coming weekend.

He wanted to put his basket by the front door so that the Easter Bunny could easily hop in, leave some things, then leave quietly.  So thoughtful.  Jacob has thoroughly enjoyed all the little treats the Easter Bunny brought, including big boy bath soap and shampoo, Chapstick, and a Duplo Cars building set.

And things are progressing on the house front for us.  We're working under contract on a house in Mt. Airy, with a move-out date set for here over Memorial Day weekend, and a move-in date at the new house set for the end of June.  We'll be staying with Erik's parents for that month in-between.  It's not ideal, but at least we'll be working on settling in to a new house over summer break, and not having to worry about settling in while focusing on our usual work/school routine.

I'm on Spring Break now.  It's going by quickly -- of course.  When we return, it'll be 4th quarter.  Hard to believe that the school year is just about over.  And just like that, we'll be busy with summer.
