Merry Christmas! Even if it is two days later. Even though the radio stations have ceased playing Christmas music, (Seriously?!? You start playing that genre on Thanksgiving Day -- sometimes BEFORE that -- and then the day after Christmas, it's totally gone?!?) we're still happily celebrating the holiday. Jacob wasn't too excited about sitting on Santa's lap this year, and we didn't push it. We knew that Santa would visit his school:

As you can see, he was still not having any of that whole "sit on Santa's lap and tell him what you want." That was okay. We had talked about what he wanted Santa to bring him if he was a good boy -- a mixer truck. That's the only thing he asked for. Nothing else. Nothing more. And every time we asked, it never changed. Well, trying to find a mixer truck turned out to be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Target... Walmart... Toys-R-Us... Home Goods... failed. My mom and I visited every one of those stores. No mixer trucks. So when we got home from our shopping expedition, she jumped online. Amazon saved the day. Jacob had some other things to open on Christmas morning, and he enjoyed all of his other gifts, but that mixer truck...

Let the present opening begin!

What could be in this box...?

The blur of happily discovering what's in that box.

Mixer truck matches! Note the mini-mixer truck that he's comparing to his new best friend...

Watching videos with daddy... and our mixer truck.
Jacob and the mixer truck have been inseparable. He napped with it, then took it to bed with him. We left for Pittsburgh yesterday to visit with my family -- and the mixer truck came, too! The only other gift that has gotten this much attention has been his robe and slippers. They're the first things he wants on when he wakes up, and he hates to take them off to get into bed.
So, it seems that this Christmas has been a success. And with Jacob getting older, each Christmas is becoming more and more magical again. I love it.
Sorry for the blog silence recently. I'll try to catch you up on what happened between October and now in future posts.
